Elsie M. Pyle, 83, of Butler died Tuesday in Butler Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.

Born in Chicora on Feb. 20, 1925, she was the daughter of Thomas Dunlap and Velma P. Kaylor Dunlap Skinner.

She had worked for the A&Pgrocery store in Butler for years and in the Butler office of the Boy Scouts of America for years.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Frye and her husband, Alfred, of Butler; one brother, Charles Dunlap of Butler; three grandchildren, Theresa Nelson of Butler, Sharon Holt, and her husband, Jeff, of Petrolia, and Gary Frye and his wife, Kim, of Evans City; six great-grandchildren, Kristen and Josh Nelson, Cody and Dale Holt, and Ashley and Noah Frye; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Gertrude Flick of Butler.

She was preceded by her mother, stepfather, two brothers and three sisters.
