SR business hits jackpot

Casino Entertainment lands role in movie

SLIPPERY ROCK — Lady Luck not only helped a Slippery Rock woman set up a business, it helped her get a spot in a Hollywood movie.

Randi Miller, who owns Lady Luck Casino Entertainment, a traveling casino company based in Slippery Rock, was surprised when she got the call several weeks ago from producers of "Hollywood and Wine." The movie producers noticed Miller's Web site and asked if she could bring her gaming tables for two days of filming in Greentree.

"So we set up a casino scene," she said, in the Parkway Center Mall on June 5 and 6. "We had a great time.'

The movie, which stars several "Saturday Night Live," cast members, both past and present, includes a scene in which Chris Kattan enters a casino and believes he has won a lot of money.

The filming was very exciting and fun, Miller said, because they got to meet the stars and be treated like them, complete with makeup and wardrobe perks. But after 14 hours of filming each day, it was also "very long and very tedious," she said.

Miller was asked to bring along dealers, so she picked some she uses for private parties, including Kelsey Brenneman and Greg Colosimo, both of Slippery Rock.

"At first they didn't believe me," she said. "They said, 'Yeah, right.' "

The producers didn't tell Miller the release date of the movie, which also features Norm MacDonald, Horatio Sanz, David Spade, Vivica Fox and Pamela Anderson.

The movie was written by Kevin Farley, brother of the late Chris Farley of Saturday Night Live. Kevin and his brother, John, also are acting in the film.

Miller's business offers private parties, fundraisers and other events with a casino theme. Customers play for chips and prizes so Miller doesn't need a gaming license, she said.

"It's just for fun and learning," she said. The experience gives people a chance to learn about casino games without the pressure of losing money, she said.
