The Butler Lions Club hosted a celebration June 16 at the Butler American Legion Hall to mark the club's 85th anniversary and to present the 15th annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Awards.Recipients received a statue and a Pennsylvania State House of Representatives citation. Agent
Fred Neal of the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office was the keynote speaker.Award recipients were
Sgt. Cheryl Cranmer of the Penn Township Police Department, serving for nine years; and
Maj. Terry Seilhamer of the Pennsylvania State Police, for 29 years of law enforcement service.Cranmer is a former U.S. Marine and currently is officer in charge in Penn Township. She is a promoter of the D.A.R.E. Program and Community Oriented Policing.Cranmer also is active in child identification programs and self-defense education. She holds a master's degree in criminal justice from Boston University.Seilhamer formerly served as a municipal police officer in south central Pennsylvania. He currently supervises 800 enlisted and civilian personnel in Troop C Punxsutawney, Troop D Butler and Troop E Erie.He has organized and supported blood drives, coached local softball teams and is a strong supporter of the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet Program.———
