Richard C. "Dick" Mahood, 83, of Foxburg died Tuesday morning at his home following an illness.

Born Dec. 18, 1924, in Hilliards, he was the son of the William and Emma Black Mahood.

He was a graduate of the former Parker High School.

He was a longtime member of Foxburg United Methodist Church.

He entered World War II in the Navy in Pittsburgh in 1943 and was honorably discharged at Sampson, N.Y., in 1945. He was a radioman third class in the Pacific Theater of Operations.He was employed as a moldmaker for the former Glass Containers Corp. of Parker, retiring after 36 years. He was a member of the American Flint Glass Workers, Union Local 100.Mr. Mahood was a founder and charter member of the former ACV Lions Club.He was a member of VFW Post 7073 and American Legion Post 598, both of Parker.He is survived by his wife, Verne Terwilliger Mahood, who he married Aug. 6, 1949, in First Presbyterian Church of Parker.Also surviving are his two sons, Scott Mahood and his wife, Kathy, of Erie and Brad Mahood and his wife, Gina, of Butler; four grandchildren, Christian, Justin, Alysabeth and Adam Mahood; one brother-in-law, E. Dale Terwilliger and his wife, Gloria, of Perry Township; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>MAHOOD </B>— Friends of Richard C. Mahood, who died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, will be received 7 to 9 today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Parker with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of Foxburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Allegheny Cemetery, near Parker.Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge 521 will conduct memorial services 6:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. VFW Post 7073 and American Legion Post 598 will conduct memorial services at the church prior to the funeral service.The family suggests memorials to Foxburg Public Library in Foxburg.
