Josephine Schreffler

Josephine Katherine Schreffler, 84, of Grove City died 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret Hospital in Aspinwall.

Born Jan. 24, 1924, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Hansel Whitten and Katherine Snyder Whitten.

Mrs. Schreffler retired in 1967 after working as an administrative assistant for the federal government at the National Security Agency.

She was a member of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church in Liberty Township.

She was active in the leadership of Girl Scouts for more than 27 years and most recently was involved with the Glaciers End Service Unit of Keystone Tall Trees Council in Kittanning.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda D. Billings and her husband, Michael, of Grove City; one sister, Marian Fox of Seneca; one nephew, Michael J. Fox and his wife, Dorothy, of New Castle, and two grandchildren, Evan and Alida Billings

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis Gaylord Schreffler, who she married Oct. 6, 1943, and who died June 9, 2000.

<B>SCHREFFLER</B> — A graveside service for Josephine Katherine Schreffler, who died Thursday, June 5, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at North Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Mahaffey, pastor of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in North Liberty Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Keystone Tall Trees Council Glaciers End Service Unit, Kittanning.Arrangements are by <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, Slippery Rock.
