George J. Wagner Jr.
George J. Wagner Jr., 67, of Sugarcreek Nursing Home, formerly of Butler, died at 4:41 a.m. Sunday at Sugarcreek.
Born April 6, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Thelma N. Lewis Wagner and the late George J. Wagner.
He was a 1961 graduate of Moniteau High School and the New Castle School of Trades. He had been a laborer at various jobs, most recently at Montgomery Ward and Lowe's.
Mr. Wagner was a member of the Unionville United Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the Unionville Grange, Butler County Pomona Grange, Pennsylvania State Grange and the National Grange.
He enjoyed bowling and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Bortmas Wagner, whom he married Oct. 24, 1987; his mother of Butler; two daughters, E.J. Morgan and Shelly Wagner, both of Butler; six sons, Carl, Howard and Michael Wagner, all of Butler, Brent Wagner of West Freedom, John Wagner of Freedom and George Wagner of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister and her husband, Thelma "Sue" and David Cancilla of Butler; four brothers and two sisters-n-law, William Clifford and Jean Wagner of Butler, Joseph Wagner of Chicora, August "Gus" Wagner of Renfrew and Michael and Cecelia Wagner of Destin, Fla.; and several aunts, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, a brother preceded him in death.
<B>WAGNER</B> — Friends of George J. Wagner Jr., who died Sunday, June 8, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A memorial service will follow at 8:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. Matt Kail, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be private.
