Alvin M. McCullough
Alvin Meade mccullough, 84, of kittanning pike, chicora, died Sunday at butler Memorial hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in chicora July 1, 1923, and was a son of Alvin Earl and lela Claire Sutton mccullough.
He was a member of holy trinity Lutheran Church, chicora and the Argyle Lodge 540 F&AM of Chicora.
Mr. McCullough, an alumnus of karns city high school, graduated from Grove City College with a degree in music.
He served with the Navy as a machinist mate second class during World War II.
He retired from Armco-Butler Works, where he worked at Plant 2 in processing.
Surviving are a son, David Earl McCullough and his wife, Ruth A., of Butternut Road, Karns City; two daughters, Barbara Ann St. Vincent and her husband, Philip, of Bumpass, Va., and Nancy Lynn Sepich and her husband, Gerald M., of Saxonburg; seven grandchildren, kathy Lyon and her husband, Richard, of Bealton, Va., Daniel P. St. Vincent and his wife, kimberly, of Stafford, Va., Melissa A. Davis and her husband, John Jr., and Melinda S. Jeffers and her husband, William, all of Cowansville, Shawn A. Barnhart of Butler, Chad M. Barnhart and his wife, Lura, of Herman and Eric M. Sepich of Saxonburg; a stepgrandson, Phil D. Plant and his wife, Kara, of Meridian; 12 great-grandchildren, Kelly Ann Aylor and Richard D. Lyon, both of Bealton, Cody A. Davis of Cowansville, Rebeka and Nicholas P. St. Vincent, both of Stafford, Chelsea Marie Davis of Cowansville, Asiah Rose and Alexcia Rae Barnhart, both of Herman, Ainsley Linda and Kailyn Claire Plant, both of Meridian and Makayla and Mackenzie Jeffers, both of Cowansville; a great-great-granddaughter, Lareighly Ann Aylor of Bealton; and several nieces and nephews.
On March 21, 1944, he married the former Ruth C. McKee in Butler. She died July 20, 1994. He also was preceded in death by a son, Larry Meade McCullough; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Storey and Gertrude McCullough; and a granddaughter, Andromeda McCullough Antares.
<B>MCCULLOUGH</B> — Friends of Alvin Meade mccullough, who died Sunday, June 15, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Richard D. Hillis funeral home</B>, Petrolia. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners.Members of the Chicora VFW and the American Legion will provide military honors at the cemetery.
