Ernest B. Dambaugh
Ernest B. Dambaugh, 85, formerly of Muddy Creek Township, died at 6:56 a.m. Friday at Home 2 Me, in Slippery Rock Township.
Born in Ellwood City, Sept. 2, 1922, he was the son of George Dambaugh and Josephine Sarah Barkley.
He began his career at Ellwood City Tube and later worked at Portersville Stainless. He then worked for Matthews Conveyer in Ellwood City and retired from the Department of Environmental Resources at Moraine State Park, where he worked in maintenance.
Mr. Dambaugh was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Worth Township.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the Battle of the Bulge with the 9th Air Defense Command. He was a recipient of the African-Middle East Campaign Ribbon and was awarded 4 Bronze Stars. He was a life member of the Butler VFW Post 249.
Surviving are his wife, Marybelle Davis Dambaugh, who he married Oct. 15, 2002, and who lives in Maytown; two sons, Terry D. Dambaugh and his wife, Donna, of Slippery Rock and Lanny E. Dambaugh and his wife, Nancy, of Moorefield, W.Va.; two daughters, Marlene Jankel of Lombard, Ill., and Darlene Stephey and her husband, Laurence, of Humble, Texas; a sister, Ruth Reed of New Castle; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Irene Critchlow and her husband, Lee, of Mt. Julia, Tenn; two stepsons, Calvin James Davis and his wife, Laura of Mt. Joy and Russell Gene Davos and his wife, Susan, of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He previously was married to Madiline Millie McDanel, who died June 11, 1995. They were married Sept. 10, 1941.
<B>DAMBAUGH </B>— Friends of Ernest B. Dambaugh, who died Friday, June 20, 2008, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Memling, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Baptist Church.
