Laura J. Clayton
Laura J. Clayton, 65, of Sandy Lake died unexpectedly at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Laura was born Sept. 29, 1942, at home in Worth Township, Mercer County, to the late William R. and Margaret Osenbaugh Garlick.
She was a 1963 graduate of Lakeview High School and was a waitress at the Stop 8 in Barkeyville for 14 years before she retired.
Growing up, she could be found spending her time with all her nieces and nephews. After retirement, she babysat her grandchildren, whom she adored, and when they entered the room, there always was a sparkle in her eyes.
Those who knew her would say she was kind, supportive and giving.
She was a Protestant.
On Jan. 29, 1965, she married Allen C. Clayton, who survives along with three daughters, Sharon R. Hildebrand and her husband, Bill, of Parker, Cindy S. Troy and her husband, Steve, of Stoneboro and Stacy L. Schulz and her husband, Dan, of Jackson Center; two grandchildren, Jarrett and Jensen Troy; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Burrows of Jackson Center and Sarah Wildeman of Cartersville, Ga.; three brothers, Earl Garlick and his wife, Louise, of Baden, Raymond Garlick and his wife, Dorothy, of Jackson Center, and Robert Garlick and his wife, Patricia, of Baden.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Strouss and Henrietta May Kellogg.
<B>CLAYTON </B>— Friends of Laura J. Clayton, who died Thursday, June 26, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Scott A. Black Funeral Home</B>, 3236 S. Main St., Sandy Lake. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Greenlee, pastor of the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
