Howard 'Butch' Green

Howard E. "Butch" Green, 62, of Chicora Road in Butler died suddenly Thursday at his home.

Born Jan. 24, 1946, in Butler, he was son of the late Howard E. and Pauline Baughman Green.

He was a 1963 graduate of Butler High School.

He worked as a construction inspector for PennDOT for eight years. He also worked as an inspector for various contractors. He later worked as an auto body repair instructor at the Butler Vo-Tech for three years.

Mr. Green was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post in Chicora.

He was a former member of the Butler School Board.

Butch was a member of the R.C. Men's Club, the Eagles Club in Clarion, the Happy Hunter's Sportsman's Club in Fenelton, and he greatly enjoyed fishing and spending time at Camp Wanderlust. He also enjoyed restoring cars and was a classic car enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Hilderbrand Green, who he married June 26, 1965.

Also surviving are his daughter, Angela M. Schnur and her husband, Des E. Schnur, of Butler; his son, Adam S. Green of Butler; two grandchildren, Cody A. and Allison R. Schnur of Butler; three brothers and their wives, David P. Green of Butler, Gregory L. and Eileen Green of Butler, and Justin J. and Sherry Green of Worthington.

His brother, Wayne A. Green, preceded him in death in 1976.

<B>GREEN</B> — Friends of Howard E. "Butch" Green, who died Thursday, July 10, 2008, will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>the Geibel Funeral Home,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin R.C. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
