George W. Wamsley, 70, of Valencia Borough, died Saturday in UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.

He was born Sunday, Sept. 19, 1937, in Pittsburgh to the late George Edward and the late Viola Louise Baumgartel Wamsley.

Mr. Wamsley was a heavy equipment operator with Local 66 Operating Engineers and retired in 1998. He was a past Mayor and served on the Valencia Borough Council for many years. He was a life member of the Valencia Volunteer Fire Company; member of the Historical Society of Valencia; member of the Free and Accepted Masons, John E. Mair Blue Lodge 729; and a member of the Syria Mosque Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Pauline Dauenheimer Wamsley of Valencia. They were married Nov. 24, 1955, in Pittsburgh. Also surviving is his son, Thomas J. Wamsley of Cabot; his daughters, Karen L. Donaldson and her husband, Stuart, of Aspinwall; Diane L. Rylands and her husband, Rod, of Littleton, Colo.; his granddaughters, Chelsea Rylands, Elizabeth Donaldson, Brooke Wamsley, Lauren Wamsley and Erin Wamsley; his grandson, Chase Rylands; and his sister, Virginia Burge of Florida.

<B>WAMSLEY</B> — Friends of George W. Wamsley, who died Saturday, July 12, 2008, will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home</B>, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, PA 15101.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett Street in Valencia, with the Rev. Gary Weston officiating.
