Canoe access funds made available by Conservancy
BLAIRSVILLE — The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is accepting applications for the establishment and improvement of canoe and kayak access sites to the region's waterways.
Selected applicants will receive up to $4,000 to improve waterway recreation access locations in Western Pennsylvania.
Online applications are available on the conservancy's Web site at www.waterlandlife.org/112/conserving-water. Applications must be postmarked by Sep. 5.
Grant awardees will be notified by early October.
The grants may be used for these expenses:
• Adding parking for a few vehicles
• Creating stabilized access areas and paths to the waterway
• Buying voluntary conservation agreements and/or riverside properties
• Paying for a portion of a larger land tract for access
• Upgrading an existing access location
