Betty A. Painter Pfeifer, 87, of Evans City passed away Thursday morning to be with her Lord.

Born in Harmony Junction, Dec. 23, 1920, she was the daughter of Earl and Shirley Pittman Painter.

She was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City.

Mrs. Pfeifer retired from the Mine Safety Appliance Co., Evans City, with 10 years of service. She also had been the manager of the Grata 5 & 10 in Evans City. She and her husband also had the Pfeifer Service Station on Main Street in Evans City.

She was a former member of Bethlehem Chapter 37 Order of the Eastern Star, Evans City. She was a member of the advisory board of the Elsie Hartje Assembly Rainbow for Girls when it was constituted. She was a past president of the Junior Womans Club and a member of the Evans City Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Pfeifer, who died May 1, 1996; three brothers; and a sister.

Surviving are a son, Randolph (Katherine) Pfeifer of Evans City; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lorraine) Young of Townville and Mrs. Edson (Carol) Morrison of Karns City; seven grandchildren, Michael, Bradley and Kevin Young, John and Eric Morrison and Ann and Alan Pfeifer; and seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Aryn, Sidney, Dylan, Kyle and Vanessa Young and Kathryn Morrison.

Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City.
