Butler Fall Festival will be bigger, better

30th annual event slated Saturday

The 30th annual Butler Fall Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine, and promises to be the largest one yet.

The Rodfathers classic car show, as well as food and crafts vendors, will line Main Street from Penn Street to Wayne Street.

"We used to stop near the courthouse, but we have a lot of new vendors this year," said Tracy Hack, co-chair of the festival.

The five-person panel has also garnered support from more than two dozen businesses, a far cry from four years ago, when it had a single community sponsor.

"Even if it is only a few dollars, every little bit helps. Businesses have been wonderful to us," Hack said.

Wine tasting will make its festival debut near Holly Pointe, featuring wines from Rustic Acres Winery and Winfield Winery.

Visitors will see an improved entertainment lineup, as well.

"Our acts on the main stage are all new this year," Hack said.

Main stage entertainment will again be provided at Diamond Park all day, with acts including:

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Salsamba!, a Latin jazz quintet

• 2 to 4 p.m., The Chris Higbee Project, the former fiddle player for the Poverty Neck Hillbillies takes on singing and guitar duties as well for his act

• 5 to 7 p.m., Barbara Blue, Pittsburgh native, brings contemporary blues from Memphis, Tenn.

In addition, several entertainers will perform outside the Penn Theater.

"We will have a stage set up outside the Penn Theater for the first time," Hack said.

World of Children takes the stage from noon to 12:45 p.m., followed by magician Kevin Kramer from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The King Cool Band will play from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. before Street Level wraps up the evening from 4 to 6 p.m.

For the first time, the festival will hold a fundraiser, a 50/50 drawing to benefit the family of Ed Wilbert. Tickets will cost $1 each or $5 for a book of six, and the drawing will be held at the Diamond Park stage at 7 p.m.

Children can enjoy face painting, inflatable attractions and other activities all day, as well as the Home Depot Kids Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m.
