Frieda A. Bauldoff, 92, of Meridian died peacefully Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Connoquenessing Township, she was the daughter of William H. and Anna Setzenfandt Michael.

She was a graduate of the Butler High School Class of 1934.

She married Melvin J. Bauldoff May 29, 1942, at St. John Roman Catholic ChurchCoylesville in Fenelton. While her husband served in New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II, she worked for the Army at Camp Carrabelle, Fla., and Fort Ord., Calif. She also worked at the sardine canneries on Cannery Row in Monterey, Calif., when additional help was needed.

After the war, Frieda and her husband owned and operated a mobile home park in Daytona Beach, Fla. During the 1960s and 1970s, she provided support services to her husband's business, Mel-Den TV and Appliance in Zelienople.

Frieda was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Meridian. She was one of the founding members of the Buttercup Garden Club. Frieda also was an active fundraiser for the Meridian Woodpeckers' trip to Romania and participated in the General Butler Vagabonds parent organization.

She enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, baking delicious pies and relaxing on the family pontoon at Lake Arthur. She also passed on her love of the Christmas holidays and chocolate to her four lucky daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin, of Meridian; four daughters, Corita Bauldoff of Brandywine Village, Jilana (Joseph) Alfonso of Wellington, Fla., Dr. Gerene Bauldoff of Columbus, Ohio, and Michelle (Frank) Ciliberto of Wilkes-Barre; two grandchildren, Alyse and James Alfonso of Wellington, Fla.; three step grandchildren, Gina (Shannon) Forsythe of Shiresmanstown, Pa., and Frank Joseph (Brenda) Ciliberto and Annajanette Ciliberto, both of Wilkes-Barre; three step great-granddaughters, Ella and Natalie Forsythe, and Ava Ciliberto.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Michael Jr.; a sister, Florence Schoeffel; and two infant siblings.

<B>BAULDOFF</B> — Friends of Frieda A. Bauldoff, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, (Meridian) Butler. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park cemetery.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis will conduct a parish vigil service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Additional information can be found and condolence message placed for the family at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
