9:50 a.m. Thursday — Someone stole a life-size dog statue, gray with a white spot on its chest, valued at $500 and belonging to Donald Gibala of Butler, from the porch of his West Pearl Street home between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9:50 a.m. Thursday.2:50 p.m. Tuesday — William Vankirk III, 28, of Butler was charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia after police, responding to a possible overdose at a McKean Street residence, allegedly discovered a switchblade knife, an empty bag that police suspected had contained heroin and a ceramic pipe with marijuana residue. Jamie L. Heath, 19, of Butler was charged with tampering with evidence and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia in the same incident.6:10 a.m. Sept. 5 — Robert M. Spencer of Chillicothe, Ohio, was charged with a hit-and-run offense after the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly struck a utility pole at the corner of Second and Charles streets, ripping the telephone box from the pole, then fled the scene.

6 p.m. Thursday — Someone stole about 600 feet of copper wire from a house under construction in Oakland Township. Residents reported seeing a light blue, older style pickup truck in the area the past few days.9 a.m. Wednesday — Someone stole a red, Generac 5500 generator with turf tires belonging to Samuel Sena Jr. of Butler from the Embarq substation on Criley Road in Clearfield Township between 12:01 a.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Wednesday.Sept. 4 — Someone entered a triaxle truck at Dittman Trucking in Bruin, stealing a "20" series inspection sticker valued at $10. Anyone with information should call police at 724-284-8100.

7:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by a 17-year-old Grove City boy crashed into a ditch along North Liberty Road in Liberty Township. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.5:11 p.m. Wednesday — An Invacare Tracer EX2 wheelchair was found at Leesburg Falls on Falls Road in Springfield Township. To claim the chair or identify the owner, call police at 724-662-6162.
