Lane J. Steighner, 37, of Butler passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous fight with brain cancer.

Born Oct. 10, 1970, in Butler, he was a son of Howard Steighner and Edie (Cousins) Steighner.

He graduated from Butler High School in 1989; and prior to his illness, he had worked at the Herr-Voss Co. in Callery. Before that, he had worked for the Butler Township Road Department.

Lane fought his battle without a complaint and always with a smile. He was a hard worker and a good friend who loved God and his family, would always lend a helping hand and was loved by many. Well done good and faithful servant.

He was a member of Victory Family Church in Cranberry Township.

Surviving are his wife, Melissa (Dubyak) Steighner, whom he married Sept. 19, 1998; a son, Brady Steighner at home; a daughter, Hannah Steighner at home; his father, Howard Steighner of Butler; his mother, Edie Steighner of Butler; two sisters, Marlene (Dave) Uram and Sally (Kerm) Minich, all of Butler; two brothers, Jim (Kathy) Steighner and Ron (Michelle) Steighner, all of Butler; five nieces; and eight nephews.

<B>Steighner</B> — Friends of Lane J. Steighner, who died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Visitation also will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Victory Family Church, 21150 Route 19, Cranberry Township. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at Victory Family Church. The Rev. John Nuzzo, senior pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery, Butler.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
