Lawrence 'Dit' Osche
Lawrence Wendle "Dit" Osche, 89, of Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, died Wednesday.
He was born July 7, 1919, in East Butler, the son of Walter and Gertrude Eyth Osche.
He was a member of the St. Michael Roman Catholic. Church, Elizabeth Township, SOAR 2227 US Steel, the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens and a 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers of Butler.
He was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps serving in World War II.
He retired as sales manager for Quaker State Coca Cola after 30 years and also retired from the US Steel Irvin Works Hot Mill after 15 years.
He was a graduate of The Butler Business College.
Lawrence loved to bowl, hunt and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Stewart Osche, who he married June 14, 1947; daughters, Nancy O. (Charles) Braum of Elizabeth, Joanne O. (Charles) Lang of Ramona, Calif., and Kimberly O. (Charles) Barnes of Elizabeth Township; grandchildren, Charley Braum and Amy Braum Vickers, Ashley and Brandon Lang and Lia and Angela Barnes; great-granddaughter, Mallorie Vickers; a brother, Bernard (Dorothy) Osche of Bernville; sisters, Marcella Coyle, Rose Marie (Jim) Zarnick and Ruth Raybuck of Butler, Gertrude (Arthur) Fulton of North Apollo and Patricia (Paul) Bachman of Inverness, Fla; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Osche of Butler; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Rita Herald, Helen Lumley and Victoria Osche; and brothers, Carl and Floyd Osche.
<B>OSCHE</B> — Friends of Lawrence Wendle "Dit" Osche, who died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, are welcome from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory</B>, 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Pa., Elizabeth Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Michael Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Rudolph F. Smoley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
