Elizabeth M. Fisher
Elizabeth M. Fisher, 95, formerly of Franklin Street, died Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born July 17, 1913, in Knox, a daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Pearl Gates McCoy.
Elizabeth was a retired elementary school teacher. She worked for 29 years in Butler area schools until her retirement in 1979.
Mrs. Fisher was active in the community. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, a past president and member of the Associated Artists of Butler County, the Butler County Spinners and Weavers, the Friends of the Butler Library and the Butler Symphony Board. She also was a member of the American Association of University Women, who named her as Woman of the Year in 1994; the Pennsylvania State Education Association and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association.
Her husband, Joseph A. Fisher, who she married May 29, 1935, preceded her in death Oct. 13, 2002. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 10 children and was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Karen Krenitsky of Butler and Mrs. Sam (Amy) Maxwell of Lewisville, N.C. Also surviving are five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
<B>FISHER </B>—<B> </B>There will be no public visitation. Family and friends of Elizabeth M. Fisher, who died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, are invited to attend a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., and a memorial luncheon in the Parish Social Hall following the service. Private interment will take place at the St. Peter Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Monday at the church.Memorial donations may be made to either the Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001; or to the Associated Artists of Butler County, 344 S.
