PITTSBURGH — The starting running back for a playoff-bound Pittsburgh Central Catholic football team died days after suffering a stroke while watching a game between two other teams.
Kyle Wilson, a junior, had been unconscious and in critical condition at UPMC-Children's Hospital since he collapsed while attending another game Thursday.
Central Catholic coach Terry Totten says Wilson suffered a stroke not related to football and had practiced normally with the team last week.
Central Catholic, the defending WPIAL Class AAAA champion, meets Penn-Trafford in a first-round playoff game Friday in Fox Chapel.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Jeremy Deighton and Toby Bowser, members of the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team, were named PSAC West Co-Athletes of the Week.Deighton, a junior forward, scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over first-place Mercyhurst. He then scored SRU's first and last goals in a 5-4 triumph over Gannon.Bowser, a sophomore midfielder, had an assist against Mercyhurst, then had a school-record-tying four assists against Gannon.
