William J. Ehrhart
William J. Ehrhart, 80, of Evans City died Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.
Born Feb. 23, 1928, in Middlesex Township, he was the son of the late William L. and Gertrude (Barclay) Ehrhart.
Mr. Ehrhart was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Callery Chemical after 37 years.
He was a member of the Harmony Moose Lodge 957 and the Mars VFW Post 7505, where he belonged to the softball team. He also was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center, the Evans City Senior Center and had played baseball for the Butler County Eagle League.
Mr. Ehrhart was an avid deer hunter and trout fisherman, and he also trained beagles. He enjoyed the woods and nature and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by four sons, William C. Ehrhart and his wife, Iva Burkert, of Bridgeport, W.Va., John H. Ehrhart of Penn Township, Richard D. Ehrhart of Evans City and Joseph O. Ehrhart and his wife, Deb Burke Ehrhart, of Vermillion, Ohio; a daughter, Trudy Scarborough and her husband, Wayne, of Evans City; three stepchildren, Robin Gilliland and his wife, Lindee, of Butler, Teri Wilson of Renfrew and Bruce Wilson and his wife, Wendy, of Butler; two sisters, Jane Smith and Dorothy Edinger both of Mars; eight grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Tammy and Victoria Ehrhart, Tanya Bryan and David, John and Matthew Scarborough; and four step-grandchildren, Brooke and Brystal Gilliland and Rachel and Jessica Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Wilson Ehrhart; and five sisters, Esther Gillis, Rose Lawther, Ida Mae Feathers, Amelia Stewart and Marlene Lackey.
<B>EHRHART</B> — Friends of William J. Ehrhart, who died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 116 E. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Lawther, associate pastor of Mars Alliance Church, officiating.
