Donald E. Christy
Donald E. Christy, 53, of Adams Township died Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Aug. 14, 1955, in Butler, a son of the late Cecil C. and Cathryn McCool Christy.
Don was a 1973 graduate of Butler High School.
He was the owner and operator of Christy Cabinets in Apollo for the past 10 years. He designed, manufactured, and installed kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial wall units. He also manufactured high quality speakers and speaker systems for Fried Products in Philadelphia.
Don was a Protestant and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Apollo.
His wife, Sherry Grannon Julian Christy, whom he married July 14, 2007, survives. Also surviving are three children and their spouses, Megan and Bert Adkins of Apollo, Nathan and Marguerite Christy of Ambridge and Lynn Christy of Youngstown, Ohio; two stepchildren, Joseph Julian and his wife, Katie Julian, of Zelienople and Timothy Julian of Mars; three grandchildren, Beren Adkins, Lillian Christy and Kaiden Christy; two brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Christy, both of Butler; four sisters, Mrs. Wesley (Emma) Eckenrode of Callery, Mary DeFelice and Cathryn Hilliard, both of Butler, and Gladys Cousins of Meridian; two sisters-in-law, Susan Christy of Slippery Rock and Candy Isaac of Evans City; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Frank and Andrea Grannon of Harmony. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive him.
Two brothers, Robert C. and James E. Christy, preceded him in death.
<B>CHRISTY </B>— Friends of Donald E. Christy, who died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Panther, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
