Grinnik

Jack Grinnik, 85, of Meridian died early Saturday at his residence.

Born March 23, 1923, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Samuel and Anna Keyko Grenek.

Jack worked in the strip shears department of Butler Armco and retired in 1985 following 35 years of service.

Mr. Grinnik was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a cannoneer during the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy Invasion.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

He was involved in the coaching aspects of the Meridian Boosters Association during its early beginnings and with fundraisers for the boosters.

His wife of 57 years, Florence Miklosovic Grinnik, survives him. Also surviving are his daughter, Jean Menchyk and her husband, Jim, of Butler; his son, Robert Grinnik and his wife, Terri, of Slippery Rock; two grandchildren, Daniel and Sara Grinnik, both of Slippery Rock; two brothers, Andrew Grinnik and his wife, Lillian, of Zelienople and Steve Grennek and his wife, Mary, of New Castle; and four sisters, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Daller of Butler, Ann Ordy of Butler, Mrs. Larry (Sophie) McCandless of Florida and Alice D'Amato of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Anthony; and two sisters, Mary Fudoli and Olga Pellegrini.

<B>GRINNIK </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Jack Grinnik, who died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.
