Barbara Jean Nichols, 79, of Cranberry Township passed away suddenly Dec. 21 from Guillain Barre Syndrome at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.

Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Percy Gay Slough and Lottie Pearl (Yates) Slough.

She was a loving Christian, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, nana, great-grandmother, suga and friend.

Mrs. Nichols was an active member and volunteer at Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry Township.

She was very family oriented and active in her young grandsons' lives.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Mario Nichols Jr., whom she married July 13, 1968; two daughters, Theresa Troiano and her husband, Bob, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Sarah Hogue and her husband, Ron, of Cranberry Township; a son, Frank Michael Nichols and his wife, Linda, of Studio City, Calif.; a sister, Joan Nowlin of Lynchburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Tracey, Sean, Samuel, Timothy, Glisten and Sharla; and a great-grandchild, Sonia Lili.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Nelson Adams, and a daughter, Debbie Cagle.

<B>NICHOLS</B> — A memorial service for Barbara Jean Nichols, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dutilh United Methodist Church, 1270 Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township. Interment will be in the Dutilh U.M.
