Theodore S. Savage
Theodore S. Savage, 79, of Butler died Thursday morning at his home.
Born May 20, 1929, in Butler, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Franchuk) Savage.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and then graduated from Grove City College with a degree in mechanical engineering. He had worked for Thermal Transfer in Monroeville for 13 years until he retired in 1972. Following his retirement, he was self-employed as a tree cutter, and had enjoyed woodworking.
He was one of the founding members of the Highfield Community Center, where he was also a past president, a permanent member of the board of directors, the head of the building committee and instrumental on all of their committees.
A veteran of the Korean War, he had served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Rose M. (Prementine) Savage, whom he married Nov. 28, 1953; four sons, David A. (Cindy) Savage of Butler, Vernon J. (Tami) Savage of Aurora, Ohio, Michael J. (Cathy) Savage of Canonsburg, and Keith G. (Allison) Savage of Williamsport; a daughter, Linda (Keith) Kristoff of Butler; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Savage of Butler.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Melvin.
<B>Savage </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Theodore S. Savage, who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Deacon Mitch Natali will officiate. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
