Rosella Porter

Rosella (Claypool) Porter, 87, formerly of North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, died Tuesday at Sugar Creek Rest, Sugarcreek Township, ArmstrongCounty,

Born July 18, 1921, in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late Orlo Shird and Nellie May (Cousins) Claypool.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Porter was an active member of the Rogers Chapel United Methodist Church, South Buffalo Township.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family very much.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crocheting, fishing and picking berries.

She is survived by her children, Suvilla Jordan of Butler, Larry W. (Betty) Porter of Hartford, Conn., Sandra L. (Lyle) Johnson of Gapp, Ark., Harvey Shirden (Sonomi) Porter of Milton, Fla., and Barry L. (Karen) Porter of Fenelton; a sister, LaRue (Stanley) Sipes of Home, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Porter; three brothers, Kenneth C. Claypool, Harvey Shirden Claypool and Edward Glenn Claypool; seven sisters, Edna Pearl Claypool, Anna Pearl Claypool, Estella Shirey, Lida Marie Cousins, Alice Goodgasell, Mary Forringer, and Patricia Plunkett; and a granddaughter, Kelly Johnson Stenbeck.

<B>PORTER</B> — Friends of Rosella (Claypool) Porter, who died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the <B>WELCH FUNERAL HOME</B>, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
