Charlotte V. Nist

Charlotte V. Nist, 73, of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, formerly of Cranberry Township, died peacefully Wednesday.

Born Nov. 19, 1935, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Charlotte (Küllen) Feil.

Mrs. Nist was an active member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, New Sewickley Township, where she belonged to the church choir, the Altar Guild and the Ladies' Society, where she helped organize funeral luncheons. She also was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, where she had served as an officer of the local chapter.

She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and began her teaching career at the North Allegheny School District's Bradfordwoods Elementary and retired as a teacher from the Seneca Valley School District, having taught at Haine and Rowan Elementary schools in Cranberry Township.

Mrs. Nist was a member of the board of directors at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for 11 years and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association and the Butler County Retired Teachers Association.

In addition, she was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 403 and both worked and volunteered at Camp Lutherlyn in the Environmental Center. She also was a volunteer at the Grace Youth and Family Foundation and a former volunteer with Camp Pioneer.

She also was a supervisor for the Board of Elections at voting polls in Cranberry Township and enjoyed singing with the Cranberry Chorale.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Eugene A. Nist Sr., whom she married June 21, 1958; three children, Bonnie DeHart (Bill) of Evans City, Eugene A. Nist Jr. (Pat) of Economy and Deborah Halle (Bill) of Butler; a sister, Rosemarie Priestley ("Bud") of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Megan Greathouse (Jon), Melissa DeHart, Alyssa Nist, Colton Nist, Aimee Renko, Tom Renko, Brian Ivany, William Halle (Jennifer), Crystal Halle, Joshua Halle, Jacob Halle (fiancée, Emily) and Rachel Halle; three great- grandchildren, Alex, Kaleb and Arianna Halle.

<B>NIST</B> — Friends of Charlotte V. Nist, who died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home of Cranberry Township</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Rochester Road, New Sewickley Township/Freedom. Everyone please meet at church.
