The Butler freshman hockey team defeated North Allegheny 5-4 in double overtime Wednesday night in a first-round PIHL playoff game at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

Corey Chuba scored two goals, including the game-winner with 2:20 left in the second overtime period. He had an assist as well.

Tanner Gilliland scored a pair of goals and Derek Ritenour added one. Goalie Clay Bachman made 26 saves in recording the victory.

The Butler eighth-grade team finished second out of 12 teams in the 12th annual Oil City Junior High Basketball Tournament.The Golden Tornado defeated Oil City 49-40, Lakeview 34-27 and Ridgway 38-32 before dropping a 61-44 decision to Meadville in the championship game.Representing Butler were Jordan Cratty, Luke Hartung, Shae Stobert, Jacob Alston, Travis Reed, Canan Roskovski and Cory Hilliard.
