White

Jean M. McLaughlin White, 82, of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township passed away Monday evening in UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.

Born June 2, 1926, in Crafton, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Reis McLaughlin.

She was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Township, where she would relieve the employees so they could attend monthly meetings.

She graduated from St. James High School and Duff's Business College, now Point Park University. She also attended courses in real estate, interior design and antiques at Tulane University in New Orleans. She was instrumental in the restoration of Destrehan Plantation in Louisiana.

She was a lifetime million-dollar seller of real estate in Louisiana. She also practiced interior design for many years.

She and her husband traveled Europe and the Orient. They moved back to Pittsburgh in 1984 and settled in Sherwood Oaks in 1992.

Mrs. White managed the gift shop at Sherwood Oaks, instituting a new concept of management. She established "Granny's Attic," which was a tremendous success.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglass White; one daughter, Jayanne Crawley, LaPlace, La.; two sons, Jay (Eleanor) White, Columbia, Tenn., and Michael White, Hastings, Minn.; two sisters, Margery Kunert, Naples, Fla. and Dorothy Lange, Gibsonia; two brothers, Joseph McLaughlin, Dayton, and James McLaughlin, Florida; a surrogate daughter, Kathy Umpirowicz, Evans City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

<B>WHITE </B>— Friends and relatives of Jean M. McLaughlin White, who died Monday, March 9, 2009, are invited to a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Township.Funeral arrangements are being handled by <B>A.
