Jesse H. 'Turk' Nocera

Jesse H. "Turk" Nocera, 91, of Sunset Drive, formerly of West Wayne Street in Butler, died Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Argentine, Washington Township, he was a son of the late Dominic and Francisca Chircosta Nocera.

Turk was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He was a coal miner for more than 30 years. He then was a bartender at Vin and Joe's in Butler for an additional 24 years until his retirement in 1984.

Turk was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 64, the Knights of Columbus Council 866, the American Legion Post 117, the VFW Post 249, the Sons of Italy, the Italian Club, the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department, and the Onieda Valley Fire Department.

His wife, Kathryn L. "Kitty" Angert Nocera, whom he married May 19, 1954, preceded him in death June 24, 1994. A grandson, a brother, two infant brothers, and an infant sister also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a daughter, Pam Geibel and her husband, Thomas E. Geibel, of Butler; two sons, Kevin J. Nocera and his wife, Joni Nocera, and Gary L. Nocera, all of Butler; two brothers, Pat and Leonard Nocera, both of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Albert and Mrs. Dominic (Rita) Savannah, both of Butler; five grandchildren, Rocco Nocera, Duffie Wyatt, Jessica Geibel, Craig Geibel, and Tanya Nocera; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>NOCERA</B> — Friends of Jesse H. "Turk" Nocera who died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E.Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the Rosary.
