Eileen E. Young Curtis, 81, of Game lands Road, Chicora, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Chicora, April 12, 1927, the daughter of the late William Young and the late Marcella Stein Young.

She was retired from Days Inn, where she had worked as a banquet waitress for years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the church where she donated many crafts, made wreaths and cookies and gave much of her time to the yearly Christmas bazaar. She also belonged to the Sisters Card Club, and she was a member of the Friends Card Club for more than 50 years.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence J. "Curtie" Curtis, who she married July 5, 1948; a son, Larry Curtis and his wife, Sharon, of Chicora; two daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Franko and her husband, Michael, of Butler and Marjorie "Margie" M. Slater and her husband, Gary, of Chicora; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are seven sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Marcella) "Betty" Fallecker of Butler, Mrs. Mary Ferguson of Butler, Mrs. John (Pauline) Graham of Butler, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Clouse of Butler, Mrs. Bert (Virginia) Korieth of Butler, Mrs. Cleo Tritsch of Butler and Mrs. Richard (Jane) Beltrami of Butler; and five brothers, William "Bill" Young Sr. of Chicora, Robert Young of Chazy, N.Y., John Young of Butler, Norman Young of Hilliards and Regis Young of Butler.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Young, Richard "Dick" Young and Paul Young.

<B>CURTIS </B> Friends of Eileen E. Young Curtis, who died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, with the Rev. David DeWitt, pastor, as main celebrant and concelebrated by the Rev. Stephen Neff.
