Charles A. "Artie" Bicehouse Jr., 85, of Evans City, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.

Born June 29, 1923, in Callery, he was the son of the late Charles A. Sr. and Cleo Marburger Bicehouse.

Mr. Bicehouse was a member of the Crestview Community Church in Callery.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving on the European front lines and France and receiving the Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars.

Artie was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and a lifetime member of the Callery Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by a son, Curtis "Curt" Bicehouse and his wife, Gretchen, of Baden; a daughter, Christi Rice and her husband, Michael, of Evans City; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bicehouse of Evans City; a brother, Jack Bicehouse of Renfrew; a sister, Doll Knox and her husband, Lester, of Connoquenessing; five grandchildren, Steven Bicehouse, Cori-Rice Wagner, Natalee Datta, Travis Rice and Blake Rice; and six great-grandchildren, Brendon, Justin, Kearson, Rylan, Emry and Easton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Lotz Bicehouse, who died Jan. 10, 2002; a son, Richard "Rick" Bicehouse, who died Aug. 15, 2007; and a brother, Ken Bicehouse.

<B>BICEHOUSE </B>Friends of Charles A. "Artie" Bicehouse, who died Thursday, April 2, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME,</B> 116 E. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
