8:27 p.m. Saturday — Michael Andrew Paul, 28, of Butler was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police found him carrying two empty stamp bags, which are used to pack heroin, when they picked him up on a warrant from Butler County Adult Probation in the Cigarette Shop parking lot on West Jefferson Street.12:12 p.m. Saturday — Christopher P. Simmons, 26, of Ellwood City was charged with retail theft after allegedly shoplifting $71 worth of jewels, including necklaces, from the Kmart store on Hansen Avenue.11:35 a.m. April 27 — A pickup truck driven by Wendy Jarrell, 31, of Greenville, Mercer County, backed into a parked vehicle owned by Amy Fifield on First Street.
2:10 a.m. Sunday — Anthony Jones, 32, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence, forgery and making false reports to law enforcement authorities following a traffic stop on Main Street in Butler. During the traffic stop, Jones allegedly signed an official document with a false name. Jones is in Butler County Prison in lieu of bail.4:30 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Clifford Heurich, 84, of Slippery Rock and a car driven by Matthew Kriess, 27, of Butler collided on Route 422 in Franklin Township. Kriess' passenger, Diane Kriess, 61, of Connoquenessing, received minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. No one else was injured. Heurich was cited for making an illegal U-turn.4:16 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Joshua Scott, 20, of Parker struck the rear of a car driven by Troy Moore, 46, of Petrolia while it was stopped to turn off Route 38 in Washington Township. Scott, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. Moore was not injured.2:40 a.m. Saturday — Patrick Stevenson, 28, of Butler was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 308 in Center Township.12:45 a.m. Saturday — Andrew Jonathan Osche, age unavailable, of Donaldson Road, Donegal Township, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Bruin Road in Bruin.5:15 p.m. Friday — Matthew Edward Maley, 26, of Karns City was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment after allegedly threatening to cut a 24-year-old Butler woman with a knife. Police did not release the woman's name.4:05 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Goksel Gokkocabas, 21, of Coraopolis hit a tree stump while going up an embankment off Route 173 in Slippery Rock Township before rolling onto its driver's side. While rolling, the car's roof struck the front end of a car driven by Michael Duryea, 19, of Slippery Rock. Gokkocabas, who was wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries. No one in Duryea's car was injured. Gokkocabas was cited for a traffic violation.3:25 p.m. Friday — A motorcycle driven by Howard L. Houston III, 25, of Butler hit a deer on Route 308 in Clay Township. Houston, who was wearing a helmet, received minor injuries.1:12 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Barbara Carson, 76, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by Leroy Troutman, 66, of Hilliards collided at the intersection of Unionville and North roads in Franklin Township. Neither driver was injured. Carson was cited for going through a stop sign.6:45 a.m. Friday — Jason J. White, 20, of Slippery Rock was arrested for possession of suspected marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol after a motorist found White lying in a ditch off Sunset Drive in Center Township.10:03 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Charles Sholes, 71, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by Andrew Mravintz, 20, of Ellwood City collided at the Sunoco gas station parking lot entrance on Route 8 in Center Township. Neither driver was injured. Sholes was cited for pulling out of the parking lot in front of the truck, which was traveling on Route 8.Thursday — The door to the concession stand at the West Sunbury ball fields was pried open between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday. The door was damaged, but no items were reported stolen.8 p.m. April 23 — Carl Duerring, 18, of Cranberry Township was charged with trespass by motor vehicle after allegedly driving onto the soccer fields at Portersville Christian Academy in Muddy Creek Township. Justin Keefe, 18, also of Cranberry Township, and a 17-year-old Zelienople boy were charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.
12:15 a.m. — An SUV driven by Misty Sontag, 35, of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada, hit a deer on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. None of the vehicle's occupants were injured.Friday — Police made 14 DUI arrests and issued 14 traffic citations during a DUI checkpoint on Route 258 in Liberty Township and roving patrols through Mercer County.10:25 April 23 — Randy Ray Guthrie, 31, of Stoneboro was charged with simple assault after allegedly hitting Candise Sadie Mae Guthrie, 26, also of Stoneboro, at the Wareham Trailer Court on Hendersonville Road in Sandy Lake Township.
