QUESTION: Why are you running for a seat?HAVEN: I originally ran to make a difference, which I believe I have, but this primary and election I am running to see come to fruition the ideas and programs we as supervisors have approved and implemented. Also to keep the continuity of a stable and low cost township government in place. We have accomplished much, but I will strive to do even better in the future.RISCH: For the betterment of the township. I want to push for industrial development to lower taxes and try to stop wasteful spending.QUESTION: What are the top three issues facing your township?HAVEN: 1. The top issue of our township is taxes. To stabilize property taxes, we Buffalo Township supervisors are working on the development of a business/commercial park at the Intersection of Route 356 and Route 28. Our aim is to stabilize the tax base with the future businesses that move into this park. 2. Always aim for a balanced budget, keep costs low and have a profit surplus at the end of the year. We are members of the Butler County Council of Government and hope for savings in buying by bulk with our co-members and utilizing equipment sharing services. I want to apply for more grant funds. 3. The comprehensive plan, the revamping and updating of our zoning ordinances. Keep us rural, but business-friendly.RISCH: Did not respond.QUESTION: What is the best way to handle growth in the township?HAVEN: A good planning commission, a good comprehensive plan and current zoning ordinances. But the board must enforce and update as needed.RISCH: Our administration has recently updated the zoning to handle the growth of the township.
