Thomas B. Henry, started car dealership

Thomas B. Henry of Shaler Township died Saturday.

He was born June 10, 1922, in Mars, to Clarence C. and Naomi R. Henry.

He was president of the Mars High School Class of 1940.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He took basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala., and was stationed at Camp Blanding, Fla. Tom landed in Normandy several weeks after the initial invasion and also was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged as a sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps.

He worked for the Gulf Oil Co. and later at several Chevrolet dealerships. He started Tom Henry Chevrolet in Bakerstown in 1958, which he ran until 1982, when his son, Thomas G. Henry, became his successor.

Surviving are his wife, Marion of Gibsonia; a son, Thomas G. (Gail) of Gibsonia; a daughter, Sue Scott of Glenshaw; and three grandchildren, Kate, Nikolai and Rachel. Also surviving are a sister, Elaine Settlemire of Mars; and a niece and nephews.

<B>HENRY</B> Visitation for Thomas B. Henry, who died Saturday, April 18, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>NEELY FUNERAL HOME</B>, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Services will be private.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mars Historical Society, Mars, PA 16046.
