John S. Mayberry

Mayberry

John S. Mayberry, 79, of Saxonburg, formerly of Pine Township, Allegheny County, died early today at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot.

Born in Johnstown, Nov. 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Howard R. and Jenny V. Buffington Mayberry.

He retired after 40 years with Bell Telephone in Pittsburgh, where he had been the division manager of network equipment engineering.

He had been a sergeant with U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a former member and past president of the Wexford Volunteer Fire Department and was a two-term chairman and supervisor for Pine Township. He was a longtime member, coach and manager of the Mars Baseball Association and was a former member and past master of the Archie K. Henderson Lodge 739 F&AM in Pittsburgh.

Surviving are two sons, John H. Mayberry and his wife, Pamela M., of Cranberry Township and Timothy Mayberry and his wife, Rita, of Pine Township; and three grandsons, Matt, Kevin and Luke.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Conway Mayberry, whom he married June 26, 1954, and who died Nov. 29, 1999; and by a sister, Elaine Baker; and a brother, James Mayberry.

<B>MAYBERRY</B> — Friends of John S. Mayberry, who died Friday, May 1, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars.
