Hilda Dorothy Leicher

Hilda Dorothy Leicher, 87, formerly of Rockdale Road in Butler, died Friday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

She was born April 10, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Albert Schweitzer and the late Mae Yoder Brown. She was raised by her stepfather, Harry Brown.

She lived in Pittsburgh most of her life until 1981, when she moved to Butler.

Hilda was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She had formerly worked as a sales clerk at the G.C. Murphy store on the North Side of Pittsburgh.

She was a member of the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Tanglewood Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

Hilda also loved to cook for her family, especially potato pancakes.

Her husband, Carl Leicher, whom she married May 14, 1939, preceded her in death May 18, 1995.

Surviving are four sons and their wives, Edward and Joan Leicher and Harry and Peg Leicher, all of Pittsburgh, Carl and Mary Anne Leicher of Butler and Barry and Dorothy Mae Leicher of Chicora; two daughters and their husbands, Alice and Ben Houy of Bellevue and Jennifer and Clyde Laughery of Middlesex Township; and two sisters, Olive Hinderliter and Esther Lassila, both of Florida. Fifteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Two daughters, Marie Schlick and Lois Krepp; an infant daughter, Audrey; along with a brother, a sister and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

<B>LEICHER </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Hilda Dorothy Leicher, who died Friday, May 1, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Kurt Knobel, pastor of the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Pittsburgh.Memorial donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
