Joan C. Claypool
Joan Christina (Harkless) Claypool, 68, of Worthington died Wednesday at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1940, in Kittanning, she was the daughter of Millard Harkless and Dessie (McCanna) Harkless.
A 50-year resident of Craigsville, she was a homemaker and an Avon representative.
She was a lifelong member of the Craigsville United Methodist Church and served on several committees of the Western Pennsylvania Conference. She was a recognized rural chaplain and member of the Rural Chaplain Association. Her specialty was working with senior citizens.
She was a member of the ACMH Volunteer Auxiliary, where she served on the board for eight years.
She was a people person and could talk to anyone anywhere. She loved music and served as a soloist throughout her life. She loved her family and her two dogs, Only and Sweeney.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, James R. Claypool Sr.; two sons, James R. Claypool Jr. and his wife, Tracie (Cogley) of Maumelle, Ark., and Jeffrey A. Claypool of Worthington; a daughter, Jennifer L. (Claypool) and her husband, Patrick L. Porter, of Worthington; and grandchildren, Krista F. Claypool of Maumelle, Ark., and Kelsi L. Porter and Hailey N. Porter, both of Worthington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Harkless.
<B>CLAYPOOL</B> — Friends of Joan Christina (Harkless) Claypool, who died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home</B>, Worthington. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Craigsville United Methodist Church, where there will be one hour of addition visitation before the service. The Rev. Jeremy Andrews, church pastor, will officiate.
