Leona 'Onie' Osche

Leona G. "Onie" Osche, 85, of Oneida Valley Road, Butler, died Monday following a three-month illness.

Born May 8, 1924, in Oakland Township, she was the daughter of the late Orie and Florence McMillen Mottern.

She was married to the late Harold F. Osche, who died in April 1992.

Onie formerly owned and operated Osche's Amoco gas station and custard stand in Oakland Township.

She was affiliated with the North Butler Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Oneida Valley Fire Department Auxiliary.

Onie was well known for her wedding cakes. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook for her friends and family.

Survivors include a daughter, Barb (Bob) Marshall of Wampum; a grandson, Bobby Marshall; two sisters, Clara (Clair) Armstrong of Butler and Judy (Donald) Hays of Chicora; two brothers, Harry (Nadine) Mottern of Chicora and Bert (Beryl) Mottern of Sarver; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Lee Mottern; and three sisters, Carrie June Mottern, Hazel Karenbauer and Alberta Callen.

<B>OSCHE</B> — Private funeral services for Leona G. "Onie" Osche, who died Monday, May 18, 2009, were at noon today at the North Butler Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary Kitchen officiating. Interment followed in the North Butler Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Oneida Valley Fire Department Building Fund, P.O.
