Doris I. Macurdy
Mrs. Doris I. Macurdy, 81, of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully at 3:10 a.m. Sunday at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.
Doris was born in Tarentum, March 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Victor and Irene (Vogley) Darling.
She was the widow of Elton T. "Skip" Macurdy, who passed away in 2003.
She was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church.
Doris had worked for more than 10 years as a hostess for Jardines Restaurant, and she also had cleaned houses for people for a number of years.
Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Monroe Women's Club.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Doris was a wonderful baker who made great homemade pies, and she loved spending time with all her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by two sons, Jack T. (Kim) Macurdy of Buffalo Township and Terry L. (Kathleen) Macurdy of Buffalo Township; a sister, Alice (William) Clowes of Sharpsville; and a brother, Milton (Janet) Darling of Boyers. She also is survived by her five grandchildren, Michelle Macurdy, Krystle (Manny) Rodriguez, Katelyn Macurdy and Emily and Eric Macurdy.
She was preceded by her two brothers, Robert and James Darling; and a child at birth.

Macurdy, who died Sunday, June 7, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Freeport United Methodist Church, Freeport, with the Rev. Edd Myers officiating.
