David F. Porter Sr.

David F. Porter Sr., 88, of Butler, formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday at the Chicora Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 8, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., the son of the late Emery and Agnes Yanko and the adopted son of the late Frank Porter.

David was a member of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in North Africa.

He was a Catholic. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, music and woodworking.

Surviving are a son, David F. Porter Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Butler; a granddaughter, Tina and Bill Herdlein of Butler; a great-granddaughter, Madison Herdlein of Butler; a brother, Emery "Jim" Yanko of Danville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice B. (Higgin) Porter, who died July 10, 2000.
