Karl A. Ekas

Karl A. Ekas, 71, of Sarver died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Sept. 25, 1937, in West Deer Township, he was the son of Alfred and Florence (Rittman) Ekas.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958.

He worked as a truck driver for Equitable Gas, retiring in 1997 after 30 years.

He was a member of the Bull Creek Presbyterian Church, where he had been a member of the chapel choir and bell choir.

He enjoyed woodworking and golf. He also was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Callender Ekas, who he married June 11, 1965; his son, the Rev. Daniel K. (Deborah) Ekas of Burgettstown; his daughter, Amy (Brady) Cousins of Kittanning; two brothers, Frank Ekas of Sarver and Richard Ekas of Saxonburg; his sister, Edna Mae Rodgers of Saxonburg; four grandchildren, Megan Uncapher, Erin Ekas, Cameron Ekas and Brady Paul Cousins; and also many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Jean Harbison.

<B>EKAS </B>— Friends of Karl A. Ekas, who died Thursday, July 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bull Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. James Legge officiating.
