John A. Napora
John A. Napora, 93, of Eckstein Road, Renfrew, died Thursday at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Lyndora, a son of the late John and Anna (Krykowitzki) Napora.
He had been a crane operator for the Pullman Standard Car Co. until his retirement, was a professional golfer who had played on the PGA Tour and was a golf pro at the YMCA and at the Krendale Golf Course.
He was instrumental, along with his sister, Mary Krenitsky, in developing and building Krendale Golf Course in Butler in the early 1950s.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora and loved the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Sally S. (Rudosky) Napora, who he married June 14, 1938; one son, John A. Napora II, PhD., of Tampa, Fla; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sally Anne) Houllion of Renfrew, and Mrs. David (Marsha K.) Kowal of Butler; six grandchildren, Shelley, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Becky, Dana and Wendy; nine great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, Nicholas Napora of Ingomar; and two sisters, Mary Krenitsky and Bertha Kopriva, both of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Napora.
<B>Napora</B> — Friends of John A. Napora, who died Thursday, July 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen Road, Lyndora, with the Rev. Paisius McGrath, his pastor, officiating.
