Robert E. Blauser
Robert E. "Bob" Blauser, 82, of Washington Township, Parker, entered into eternal life with his Lord on Thursday.
He was born Feb. 7, 1927, at Coal Hill, Rockland Township, Venango County, the son of James P. Blauser and Bessie (Seth) Blauser.
He married Cathryn A. (Polm) Blauser on July 7, 1950. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
He attended public school in Allegheny Township, Butler County. He had retired from International Mill Service as a journeyman mechanic and was a member of the Operating Engineers 60.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Eau Claire and he served as an elder and trustee of the church for many years. He and his son were baptized together at the church 57 years ago. His strong faith was so deeply instilled in his children that in his final hours, he again shared his faith in Christ with his daughter, Cathy.
He was active in the community in helping to build the Veterans Memorial at Six Points, Butler County.
He was an avid hunter, and he enjoyed antique machinery and garage and yard sales. He bought a 1934 International Fire Truck from his brother Pershing and worked on it for a couple years, restoring it and taking it to parades in the area with the assistance of his longtime friend, Dennis Trzeciak.
Sharing activities with his grandchildren were very important times of his life. He enjoyed making videos of them riding the 4-wheelers together as a family.
He was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted April 1944 and discharged in 1947 from the U.S. Army-Paratrooper of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division.
He was a member of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge 521, which he entered in 1962, and was a past master of the lodge; a member of the Oil City Lodge of Perfection; the Past Sovern Prince Council Prince of Jerusalem in Oil City; the New Castle Consistory in New Castle; the Butler Caravan; the Shrine Club of Youngstown, Ohio; the American Legion 598 Charles A. Black Post of Parker, where he had been a member for over 50 years and a past commander and he also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
His greatest achievement and title was being a grandfather, or as his grandchildren called him: Pa Pa.
Surviving are his wife; three children, Dr. Robert B. Blauser and his wife, Marianne, of Hamburg, Pa., Cathy J. Arblaster and her husband, Terry, of Parker and Rebecca A. Froman and her husband, Larry. of Waller, Texas; seven grandchildren: Robert Thomas Blauser of Los Angeles, Calif., Amy Michele Ghiglieri and her husband, Drew, of Atlanta, Ga., Eileen Therese Blauser of Philadelphia, PA., Kelly Marie Arblaster of Alexandria, Va., Christopher Steven Blauser of Hamburg, Pa., Blake Loyd and Dylan Robert Froman, both of Waller, Texas; two brothers, Richard F. Blauser and his wife, Shirley, of Parker, and Kenneth D. Blauser and wife, Shirley L., of Parker; one sister, Shirley Pearce and her husband, Robert, of Emlenton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clifford J., Glenn O., William H. and Pershing W. Blauser, and five sisters, JoAnn Best, Maxine Kelly, Dollie McCullough, Louise Stiglitz and Alfetta Baker.
<B>BLAUSER</B> — Family and friends of Robert E. "Bob" Blauser, who died Thursday, July 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Boyd Smith of West Unity Community Presbyterian Church officiating.
