Gladys Wimer Caven

Gladys I. Wimer Caven, 78, of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away July 17.

Gladys was born March 29, 1931, to Clair J. and Ruth E. (Cornelius) Wimer in Rosepoint, Pa.

She had lived in the Tampa and Ormond Beach area for more than 40 years and spent most of her career as a secretary in the insurance industry.

She was a 1949 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and a graduate of the New Castle Business College along with the University of Tampa.

She became a volunteer at the airport information center, a volunteer for the board of elections and volunteered as a reading mentor.

Gladys was an active member of Riverbend Community Church.

She enjoyed traveling and visiting family.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Earle; and by her brother, retired Lt. Col. Arthur K. Wimer.

Surviving are a sister Dorothy Pederson of Crestline, Ohio; her brothers, Robert (Elaine) Wimer of Ravenna, Ohio and Harold "Pete" Wimer (Pat Anderson) of Portersville; and a sister-in-law, R. Jane Wimer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>CAVEN </B>— Services for Gladys I. Caven, who died Friday, July 17, 2009, were private.Memorial contributions, in Gladys' name, may be directed to Hospice of Volusia Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.Arrangements were handled by the <B>Lohman Funeral Home</B>, Daytona Beach, Fla.
