Shearer

Cotta Jane Shearer, 88, of 115 Greenhill Drive, Butler, died Saturday.

She was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Funk, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph Eugene and Pearl Gertrude Rush Heffelfinger.

She was a former secretary to the president of Wooster College in Ohio and secretary for the Butler County (Pa.) Department of Mental Health.

Cotta was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of America.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Shearer of Butler, and a sister, Ruth Ewing of Wooster, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harmon J. Shearer in 1999; a sister, Glorine Fickes; and a brother, William Heffelfinger.

<B>SHEARER</B> — Services for Cotta Jane Shearer, who died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the <B>Fickes Funeral Home</B> in Jeromesville, Ohio, with the Rev. Paul Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour before the service.
