Michael E. McElhinney, 63, of Harrisville passed away Monday at UPMC Seneca after an extended illness.

Born in Grove City, July 31, 1946, he was the son of Robert McElhinney and Doris McClelland McElhinney, who survive.

He graduated from Victory Joint School in 1964 and from Slippery Rock University with a degree in business administration. He then served with the Air Force in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.

Mr. McElhinney retired from Slippery Rock University as a fleet manager, and he enjoyed woodworking.

He was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, a life member of the NRA and a member of the American Legion at Large.

Very active in Boy Scouting, he was the former cub master of Pack 127, former scout master of Troop 127, a member of the Order of the Arrow and of the Langondowi Indian Lodge, and he received the District Award of Merit for being an instructor.

He was a member and past president of the Scrubgrass Grange and a member of the Pomona and National granges.

In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Peggy J. Hoffman McElhinney who he married Oct. 12, 1968, at the Union Presbyterian Church; three sons, Mark E. McElhinney of Harrisville, Sean M. McElhinney and his wife, Carrie, of Emlenton and Devon M. McElhinney and his wife, Amanda, of Harrisville; four grandchildren, Seth McElhinney of Emlenton and Kayleigh, Dylan and Ryker McElhinney, all of Harrisville; two sisters, Roberta A. Cooke of Harrisville and Lori M. Bonanni of Lakeville Conn.; two brothers, Larry A. McElhinney of Hilliards and Ronald L. McElhinney of Harrisville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

<B>McELHINNEY</B> — Friends of Michael E. McElhinney, who died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Catullo, his church pastor, officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Venango VNA Foundation, 176 E.
