Basehore Sr.

Robert Wesley "Bob" Basehore Sr., 91, of Concordia Haven Apartments, Cabot, formerly of Meridian, died at 8:44 a.m. Sunday in the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

Born Aug. 1, 1918, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late David A. Basehore and Clara Poorman Basehore.

Mr. Basehore retired from Nationwide Insurance in 1981 after 31 years as assistant regional personnel manager.

Mr. Basehore was a member of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, where he was a church deacon. He also belonged to the Meridian Vets Club and the Concordia Dart Club.

Mr. Basehore loved gardening, golfing, bowling and playing darts. He also enjoyed Penn State football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Phillies and basketball.

He was a graduate of the John Harris High School in Harrisburg, and he earned an associate degree in business at the Harrisburg Academy.

Mr. Basehore served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

Mr. Basehore is survived by his wife, Marie Rohrer Basehore. They were married Sept. 11, 1948. Also surviving are four sons, Robert W. Basehore Jr. and his wife, Kathie, of Columbus, Ohio, Richard Basehore and his wife, Diane M., of Rochester, N.Y., Gary J. Basehore and his wife, Sharon, of Renfrew and Stephen P. Basehore of Kennewick, Wash.; one daughter, Patricia L. Brasher and her husband, Gary, of Tubac, Ariz.; one brother, Glenn H. Basehore and his wife, Mary Lou, of Downingtown, Pa.; nine grandchildren; five nieces; and six nephews.

Mr. Basehore was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

<B>BASEHORE</B> — Friends and family of Robert Wesley "Bob" Basehore Sr., who died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Porter of Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made be made to Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
