Elton N. Blair

Elton N. Blair, 79, of Wooster, Ohio, formerly of Wesley, Pa., passed away Tuesday at the Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster, Ohio.

Born March 10, 1930, in Irwin Township, Venango County, he was the son of Loyal C. Blair, who passed away Aug. 14, 1994, and Dorothy E. Cokain Blair, who passed away May 6, 1986.

Mr. Blair was a member of the Hickory Grove Church of God.

A graduate of Harrisville High School, Mr. Blair retired from Joy Manufacturing in Franklin in 1992, where he was a mechanic.

Mr. Blair was a member of the American Legion in Harrisville and the VFW, the Eagles and the Moose of Franklin.

Mr. Blair served in the U.S. Navy, enlisting Jan. 10, 1951, and he was discharged Nov. 29, 1954. He served on the U.S.S. Fremont.

Mr. Blair enjoyed hunting, auto racing and loved to ride his snowmobile throughout the country.

Surviving are his son, Dana Blair and his wife, Trudi, of Wooster, Ohio.; two brothers, J. Richard Blair and his wife, Ester, of Slippery Rock and L. Lee Blair and his wife, Mary, of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Brittany and Bryce Blair of Wooster, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

<B>BLAIR</B> — The family of Elton N. Blair, who died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor John Pennington from the Hickory Grove Church of God officiating.
