Police probe armed robbery
GROVE CITY — For the second time this month, a borough business Thursday night was robbed by a man with a gun.
Grove City police this morning said they have not determined if the same unknown gunman robbed both stores, which are about three-quarters of a mile apart.
The latest holdup occurred about 9:50 p.m. Thursday at the Jiffy Mart on South Center Street, police said. The robber, who wore a black ski mask, made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
The man was carrying a black handgun. No one was hurt.
The suspect is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, with blue eyes. He was wearing black sweat pants and a yellow shirt with "Grove City Eagles" on the front of it.
The stickup comes 13 days after several thousand dollars was taken Sept. 4 in an armed robbery at the BiLo Market on Mill Street.
The suspect in the BiLo holdup is described as white, about 6 feet tall with a thin build.
Any facial features were hidden by a dark colored ski mask, police said. The suspect also wore a zippered sweatshirt.
The BiLo robber brandished a revolver but neither employee working was injured. There were no customers in the store, which was just about to close for the night.
A police spokesman said she did not know if any surveillance video was available from the Jiffy Mart to assist police in the investigation. There were no security cameras at the BiLo.
Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call Grove City police at 724-458-7925.
